PVR (again, sorry)

We'd like to buy a DVD recorder, but never having had anything more
than a cheap DVD player and basic TV, we're a bit lost about what to
look for.

So far, we know we want one with a HDD, though it doesn't need to be
huge. We want to go with a PVR so we don't have to turn the (very
basic, recently given to us by a friend) Freeview box to the right
channel and leave it there. Another friend said "get a twin tuner!",
which seems like a good idea.

Have seen a Digifusion FVRT145 at what looks like a good price, it's
got twin tuner, 80gb HDD, EPG, etc, but no DVD recorder - we're
likely to want to save some things permanently. We've a DVD burner in
a PC - can we take stuff from the HDD to that? Or would we need a
separate DVD recorder, or... well, or what? (Told you we were lost
LOL) That seems to be the only downside to this model

We'd like to be able to convert some of our VHS stuff to DVD; will
this be possible with the Digifusion, and if so, how difficult is it?

Any opinions on this model, or recommendations for others? We don't
really want to spend more than £150.

TIA

Try asking in uk.tech.tv.video.pvr where you will find lots of advice.

Ah, I did try looking for more relevant ngs but didn't find that one
- didn't think to look for "pvr" or "tv" (duh). I'll go and ask
there, thanks :-)

and if you want to spend less than £150 Sainsburys are doing a Daewoo for
£99.99 which is a DVD burner and a HD recorder. Its in the sale which is
almost over so is becoming harder to find.
